Here's a fun list of things that happened in preschool on Friday.
1. A little girl threw up all over my feet (I was wearing open-toed wedge sandals- think I'll switch to closed toed shoes from here on out). :) Her mom brought her to class and said her daughter wasn't feeling well and said she would sit in her car if her daughter got more sick I could take her out. As I was trying to gently suggest to the mom that she take her daughter and let her rest and come back on Monday because children aren't allowed at school if they weren't feeling well her little pale-faced girl looked up at me and squeeked, "teacher!" and then threw up all over me. :) Poor thing.
2. One boy cried for 30 minutes because he missed his mom. It was during play time near the beginning (after seat work) so I was able to sit by him and comfort him. He joined in really well during singing time and for the rest of the class. Sweet little guy. Their's always one crier.
3. Two boys got into a major punching war and had to take their little figures off the castle I made and sit in the "thinking chair" about what they had done.
4. Two children sat at their table all of play time (25 minutes) and wouldn't tell me why.
The first week or two of school is always fun with its adjustments and learning how school works. By the end of class it was so much better than the first 45 minutes that I was smiling on the way home from work and thinking about what happened at the beginning and wondered why in the world I was smiling. :) I am excited to see how much more they'll improve next week.

Hooray! It sounds so fun! You are a great teacher Karalenn. As I was reading this I realized I NEVER would have thought of the castle or anything similar. Some people are just born with the talents needed to inspire children and you have certainly magnified those talents. I have an idea: I'll take care of all the newborns and babies, you take care of all the preschoolers and grade-schoolers. Is that a good trade? We'd need to be neighbors. Oh, and I'd puke on your shoes a lot.
ps- This is Sunny, not Joe.
I think I'd stick with "open-toed." They're easier to rinse out. Sounds like a fun life. I cry when I go to work because I miss taking naps... there's always a crier.
How fun! Sounds like you'll have a fun year!
