The Pumpkin's Big Trick (by: Makenzie)

Once there was a pumpkin in a pumpkin patch and he felt something wiggling and tickling and growing inside him. On the 18th Halloween since he was just a seed he felt a cut come from inside him on the top. Ouch! Out came a mean cackley witch who had green skin and even greener hair. And now she was born.

The witch said, "I want to make a brew and I'm going to turn you into my cauldron pot little pumpkin!"

The pumpkin was scared because he didn't want to die or get burned with the hot witch's brew, so he made a plan...

That night at the store, when the witch wasn't looking, the pumpkin snuck away and bought different ingredients for his own tricky brew.

When they got home to their pumpkin patch the pumpkin switched her ingredients with his and she started mixing the potion inside him.

His trick worked! It was a magic potion for giving pumpkins wings and suddenly out popped little batty wings that picked him up in the air.

The witch screamed!

The pumpkin bat cackled into the night.

The end.

What a great story! That clever pumpkin reminds me of someone else who's fun like that, and it's not me.

I love living in a house full of artists. Kare, I love your colors and compositions. Kendyl, your drawings are so happy and fun. I really like that tree and witch on her broom, and how well you colored the sky. Kenzie, your work is always great, too. I see you getting better all the time! I like the witch's expression, that scary, cool moon, and how well you drew the witch's body and arms! You are all so creative!
